Cameos are such unique and beautiful pieces, they are somewhere in between art and jewellery. My mum has always had an appreciation for cameos and already has quite a few pieces. One of the most common places to find cameos are Venice, Italy. During our trip there we had bought some beautiful cameos. I got a ring which is shown in the first photo and my mum had gotten two large hand crafted cameos, seen in the third and fourth photos. Those two cameos are truly
Venice really is an enchanting place. We stayed in an old villa that belonged to a rich family that has now been converted into a hotel, it has a beautiful courtyard where hotel guests could have breakfast or tea.
One of the best and most unique things about Venice (other than the fact that the city is surrounded by water) is that you can find cameos everywhere. They're beautiful and have such a regal feeling. The blue cameos are my favourite although not photographed here. What is also easily available there are beads or jewellery pieces made of Morano glass. Morano is a small island near Venice which you can catch a boat to for a day trip. The produce tons of coloured glass which is used for jewellery, handles on magnifying glasses as well as decorative pieces. Venice is truly a unique place.
Although I hadn't intended for it to be my blog has become more of a food blog but I can't help it. My life is basically 80% food!
As you've probably already learnt I come from a family of amateur bakers. So this past weekend I decided to give it a go ( with the help of my sister that is). I haven't baked for the longest time and these were the perfect cookies to pull me out of my laziness. The SumBitch cookies. They are cookies inspired by the hit TV series How I Met Your Mother. I had watched a YouTube video on PopSugarFood about these cookies and just HAD to try the recipe out. They're full of chocolate, caramel and I substituted the peanut butter for Mars bars. They were absolutely divine and are an absolute diet killer that's for sure.
